Relax at Iguana, villa rental Nayarit

Platanitos is only a short walk or drive away. Enjoy a leisurely stroll to the small town for a meal made from fresh local seafood and a classic margarita.

Built underneath two large palapas, Casa Iguana feels like it belongs on a remote tropical island. It sits on a rocky promontory and faces the Pacific Ocean, offering a magnificent view of the sparkling blue ocean and the northern coastline. Take a dip in your private pool, take a nap in a hammock swinging under the pergola, or soak up some rays on a lounger, all in secluded, luxurious privacy.

Casa Iguana is designed to meld the interior living spaces with the exterior. The flow is organic and earthy, with lush tropical foliage, beautiful flowering plants, and well-manicured gardens around the villa. The interior is decorated with splashes of color to complement and further bring nature inside.

A special place

Our family of four (11 and 13 year old kids) loved our stay at Casa Iguana. The house is artistically designed and integrated with the natural surroundings in an incredibly beautiful setting. Everyone we interacted with, from booking with Michel to the daily cook Lydia, was fantastic. The walk to the pool and beach were easy and relaxing in such a safe, beautiful environment. (Don’t miss the turtle reserve on the beach below!)

We loved that every house was different and yet lovely in its own way. The only drawback for us was the many bug bites we got even while using bug spray etc. Iguana doesn’t have windows and doors that close up completely – it’s designed for indoor outdoor living. Although this is a wonderful concept for a tropical vacation, it was not ideal for us.

We are perhaps more prone to bites than others and it is hopefully an anomaly but I thought I should mention it. In our case it was the price you pay for such a unique, authentic set up like this one. Overall we would highly recommend any of the homes at Punta Custudio!

Amazing place!

We felt really fortunate to have found this gem! The location on a cliff overlooking crashing waves is amazing. And to the south you have an almost deserted white sandy beach with near perfect surf!

The food plan was great but make sure to walk to Plantanitos at least once to enjoy the freshly grilled fish Serrendeado. Delicious! If you are coming here to surf make sure to bring all gear. There are only a few soft top long boards available.

If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs, otherwise the waves crashing onto the rocks below your bedroom will keep you up!

Casa Iguana worked perfectly for our family of 5 and our stay here will be unforgettable!

Such a cool place. Unbelievable Views

We stayed here with our family for a week. The drive from Puerto Vallarta was worth it. The open air layout with the crashing ocean just below the house was spectacular. The peninsula the house sits on is really unique. Amazing but very different views to the north, the west, and the south. Our housekeeper was great. The property manager, Ismael was very helpful.

Temperatures in late January were a very comfortable 75º during the day and a bit chilly 58º at night – perfect sleeping weather to the sounds of the waves striking the rocks below. The only downsides (but not enough to keep us from coming back) were that the pool was not heated at all and was too cold to use. If it were heated, we would have spent lots of time in it gazing at the stars at night. Also, we didn’t use the meal plan and discovered that there are really no decent restaurants closer than a 25 minute drive.

The beach restaurants we tried just below the neighborhood ranged from terrible to just OK. Overall it was a fantastic stay.

Relax and play far from tourist thoroughfare

We had a wonderful time in Platanitos–and Casa Iguana played a huge role in making it just right. The villa is every bit as lovely as it looks in the photos–with two great bedrooms open to the ocean breezes and sounds. The dipping pool and surrounding patio is a perfect place from which to take in the sunset, read a book, play games, or just lounge. Having daily meals prepared by Sophia–but being able to eat them at your leisure in your home-away-from-home is now setting the vacation bar quite high.

Ismael and the staff were all attentive and helpful throughout. We (family of four with kids 10 and 13) surfed every day at Playa Tortugas–we rented surfboards in Sayulita at WildMex–and also benefited from some great instructors from there as well.

It was fun to kayak up the estuary, and explore the beach. We took a couple outings to nearby towns, but nothing more is needed than relaxing on the property. The place seems to attract owners and visitors that are outdoorsy and hospitable, so we were not lacking for socializing either. We hope to be back!

Fabulous vacation in paradise

As a group of 9 adults, ages 27 to 64 , staying in Casa Iguana and Voz del Mar all agreed that the accommodation was superior and the ocean front setting spectacular. Each property had its own private plunge pool with unobstructed ocean views.

Customer service from Airport Pickup to in-house maids was exceptional. Our maids in both properties were excellent cooks and treated us to the best authentic Mexican food using fresh local produce and seafood. We took trips to the Crocodile hatchery, San Blas and Waterfall hike, all of which were guided by the friendly and knowledgeable on site staff. Best holiday ever! Will definitely return.

Riviera Nayarit Road Trip: An Adventure of Discovery

Just past the lineup of palapa beach restaurants at Platanitos is an uphill dirt road leading to El Custodio, a private enclave of sixteen charming, custom designed homes. The dwellings sit close together, but the lush natural and planted vegetation creates privacy and an alluring tropical ambiance. We stayed at Iguana, an artistically crafted and adorned villa overlooking the Pacific.

The open-air concept, infinity pool set high above the rocky coast and stunning sunsets were magnificent. Meeting and talking with other homeowners was welcoming, enjoyable and informative. Sonia provided meals and housekeeping. Panoramic ocean views from virtually every room, especially appreciated in master suite and extending terrace . The name El Custodio (guardian angel) was derived from the monumental chalata tree located on a conspicuous point of the property. Mariners have used it as a navigational landmark for hundreds of years.
